Well Folks, I gave it my all at the Leadville 100-Mile "Race Across the Sky" this year ~ I made it 60 miles!
I was late for the cutoff time, so did not go on.

My team was beyond incredible - and the support from all of you has been overwhelming.

My goal and belief had been to be stronger and able to gather more miles for your pledges ~ I also was humbled and learned a great deal about perseverence. This leaves me even more in awe of little Rory's strengths.

Thank You with all my heart for your pledge per mile. Please click on the link to the right to donate your pledge x 60.
Or if you prefer other arrangements, please send me an email at: spiritrunning@gmail.com

Rory is my beautiful 2-year-old niece and god-daughter who was diagnosed with a rare form of late-stage, high-risk cancer on February 24th this year. She is a little fighter with a mighty spirit, brave through countless procedures, chemo treatments, therapies, and surgeries.

Rory is now walking with the help of her parents, a foot brace, and PT every day. I am so proud of her!

I commit! I won't quit! I am going to continue to work hard, hard and get as strong as i can to keep up with her. Way to set the bar up there, Rory!!

Mother's Day, and I am thinking of Bridget, Rory's Mom - she is such a loving, attentive, affectionate, strong, supportive, mamabear of a Mom.  She empowers Rory in every way to be herself, to be strong, to have a voice,to thrive and to work through this challenge.  She is remarkable, and this week's run is for her.
I ran 30 miles yesterday from my house and in the "foothills" above Boulder - lots of up and down rocky trails including Mt. Sanitas twice.  It took me longer than i'll want to be on race day-however i loved my new goo and gel packets i tried, my energy was constant and i felt really strong. It was drizzly and grey- glorious! i didn't apply sunblock once- and the wildflowers are wonderful- i've been sending pics of them to Rory.
Rory is climbing her own mountains -lots  ups and downs of nausea, but good energy as i understand it..we are currently waiting to hear if she will going for surgery or more chemo this next time.  There are pictures of flowers on the wall of the hospital, and when her Mom and Dad wheel her by she says, "PAUSE...." so she can look at them.  Of course she has her friend Eel to meet her also, she swims over to her  eye level to meet her.
A few more pledges are coming in, and it just gets me more and more excited to finish this event.
I have to say " I love you, Mom" to my mom, who died of early-onset Alzheimer's, and who would love Rory with all her heart and soul.  And "I love you Maia" to my own girl, she's a great kid, and I look forward to seeing Rory at her age and all the amazing things she will be.
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there, and the fantastic kids who make us Moms!
